Photo Montage Photoshop Tutorial

Photo Montage Photoshop Tutorial
Creating a photo montage in Photoshop is pretty straight forward. Its always the blending and merging the images used within the montage that can be tricky, but is always important to achieve the seamless finished look to the image.
We have already discussed how to open files and import them into Adobe Photoshop in earlier tutorials, if your not sure how to do this, now is your chance to go back over the earlier lessons.

Creating a Fantasy Scene in Photoshop
This fantasy image tutorial is a continuation from the ‘pen tool’ that we looked at in an earlier photoshop tutorial.

Cutting Out With the Pen Tool in Adobe Photoshop

Cutting Out With the Pen Tool
Cutting out backgrounds can be time consuming and tedious if you are doing them regularly, but many images require it, even if you are only wanting to add a more inspiring sky to an image where perhaps a grey, dull sky is the let down of the shot. There are various ways to remove backgrounds, some are quicker than others, for example, it is possible to use the magic wand tool to remove a plain background, this can be relitively efficiant, though often leaves a residue of pixels around the image that has been cut. Using channels is a very effective way for the experienced photoshop user, however, you do need to know what your doing and it can be time consuming. This method really comes into its own when you are wanting to preserve fine detail, such as hair. We will cover this option in a seperate tutorial at a later date. Includes video tutorial

Censorship…

Image Censorship Article
Another Ethiriel creation of little Miss ‘C’ who loves to dress up in all the photographic props and play at being a grown up, just like all young children do! When the image was first published on another website it recieved many excellent critiques from people who apprecite both the art and the childhood. Amusingly though, the image was removed by the site after much pressure and objection from someone who could only see the image as ‘grown up’. It is true that art is in the eye of the beholder, and here at Ethiriel we cannot be responsible for the few murky minds that walk the planet. We must keep life in perspective to some degree…

The Easy Guide To Aperture (f Stop)

The Easy Guide to Aperture
Have you ever asked yourself a question similar to one of these? What’s with all the f/2.8 and f/1.4 and f/22 stuff people use in their Descriptions? Are they just being numerically anal or are they telling us something useful? What’s the freakin’ difference between a 50mm f/1.4 lens and a 50mm f/1.8 lens? Why is one way more expensive than the other? What do people mean when they describe a particular lens as being “fast”? Where is it going? What do lenses have to do with aperture and f stop? Isn’t that what a camera does? What does “stopping down” mean? If I’m meant to “stop down” why are the f numbers higher? Shouldn’t they be lower? What’s “aperture”? Is “aperture” the same thing as f stop? If you have, they are all good questions and they are all answered in this tutorial…

Get Started With Photoshop

Having installed your Adobe Photoshop programme and read all the tool tips, you are ready to get started with Photoshop! With luck you have practiced all the basic tools and have your image open for editing. The first thing you need to decide is the direction you want to take your image. Whether its a landscape image or a portrait, there will always be the initial thought of how you would like it to look. For a basic portrait you will firstly need to decide how much editing you want to do. Some images lend themselves more to less. Skin textures and tones can really lend themselves to an image, especially on a charactor portrait, but can be rare that you find someone that actually wants you to keep those blemishes, bruises, or loose hairs in their portraits. Many think that photo editing is wrong and that the best images should be untouched…
